1. Ananuri Fortress
XVI-XVII c castle complex on the Aragvi river. The Ananuri fortress stands beside the famous Georgian Military Highway overlooking a large Jinvali lake. 3. Friendship monument
Following the Georgian Military Road You can’t miss the round, stone and concrete structure monument overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus mountains. Monument was built in 1983 to celebrate Treaty of Georgievsk (signed in 1783) and the 200 years of friendship between Georgia and russia. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that is divided into two parts each of them representing history and tales of Georgian and Russian nations.
4. Travertines Rocks
Also called Truso Travertines Natural Monument Near Stepantsminda route at 2197 meters above the sea level.This limestone was formed when carbonate minerals precipitated out of ambient temperature water. Because of the water containing iron it gains dark yellow color after getting in contact with air. The development process is still ongoing and the visitors are able to taste the mineral water.
5. Stepantsmina
With the elevation of 1,740, the village is located 10 km south of the border with Russia. Stepantsminda was named after a Georgian Orthodox monk named Stephan, who constructed a hermitage at this location on what later became the Georgian Military Road. The village is also often called its old name Kazbegi which is coming from Georgian famous writer Alexander Kazbegi who was born here in Stepantsminda in 1848.
6. Gergeti Trinity Church and mount Kazbegi.
Gergeti trinity church (Holy Trinity Church) is a XIV century monument erected on the southern slopes of Mkinvarcveri, located at an altitude of 2170 meters. For centuries during the attacks, the church has also served as a treasure keeping place. As for the Soviet period, all religious services were prohibited, but the church remained a popular tourist destination. Nowadays the Gergeti is keeping it’s both purposes. Gergeti Trinity church has a mesmerizing view Overlooking Great Caucasus mountain range and facing Mount Kazbegi(5,033 m) which is the third-highest mountain in Georgia and a dormant stratovolcano.
7. Local People
