 Gudauri  is a ski resort located on the southern slopes of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. The resort is situated in the Stepantsminda District, along the Georgian Military Highway near the Cross Pass, at an elevation of 2,196 meters (7,200 ft.) above sea level.

The forms of the monument belong to prominent Georgian architect George Chakhava. The monument was built in 1983 by the Soviet Empire in Georgia. It is dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary Georgievski Treaty and of Georgia-Russia "friendship". The monument is one of the interesting examples of Soviet modernism.
Inside the Friendship monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of the komunists understanding of  the "friendly" relationships. It’s divided into two parts, on one side of the monument  you see Russian part and on the other Georgian.
