It is dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary Georgievski Treaty and of Georgia-Russia "friendship". The monument is one of the interesting examples of Soviet modernism.
Inside the Friendship monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of the komunists understanding of the "friendly" relationships. It’s divided into two parts, on one side of the monument you see Russian part and on the other Georgian.
