Georgian Qvevri (pitcher) made wine is a must to taste during your travel to Georgia,Kakheti region is  the most famous for its variation of grape types and wine production. Here everyone has their own wine. It can be an ordinary family, small wine cellars or big wine companies. From all the possible places for wine tasting you should not only take notice of the quality of the wine but some unique characteristics they own and the information they give you about wine.

Alexander Chavchavadze wine cellar- museum.
Alexander Chavchavadze was a notable Georgian poet, public benefactor and military figure, who first brought European way of winemaking in Georgia. Located in village Tsinandali, The complex includes the memorial house,with personal belongings of the royal family, a landscape garden, a historical winery and wine cellar. Tsinandali Estate is a place where modern Georgian wine making emerged. Alexander Chavchavadze established the classical winemaking technology and gave birth to the first Georgian bottled wine.




Khareba wine tunnels.
Located in Kvareli,  famous for being carved inside the Caucasus mountains and opened in 1962 for the OIV World Congress, the tunnel is 7,7 kilometers long. The tunnel preserves a natural temperature of 12-14° Celcius with a humidity rate of 70%; the ideal conditions for wine preservation. During the tour you can see 25 000 bottles of Winery Khareba’s premium wines aging there, as well as old equipment for wine making and of course have a wine tasting with their own grape seed oil.


 Twin’s wine cellar.
Located in Napareuli, the company is popular for its unique museum called ''Qvevri and Qvevri Wine'', which opened in 2014. The complex of the museum consists of 8 meters tall wine pitcher statue and several halls, where the whole process of producing pitchers and making pitcher wine is described. , various archival photos and information about the species of Georgian grapes.
The most important part of the museum are 3 pitchers with a volume of 500 liters, cut in the size of 1/3, which are covered with glass. So, a visitor has the ability to watch the whole process of making wine: pressing, boiling, natural filtration, taking wine and pressed skins and so on.


Shumi winery.
Located right next to Tsinandali estate, younger winery started wine making in 2001, their name  “Shumi '' in ancient Georgia was pure, unmixed wine.
Their chosen symbol is gryphon. According to the legend, this was the mythological creature who first brought grape seed to mankind, and this was the foundation of viticulture and winemaking existence.
During the excursion of the winery you will visit their winegarden with 400 types of grapes, their ethnograpy corner,  where you will learn about how Georgian bread, Churchkhela (Georgian sweet with grape juice and wallnuts) and chacha are made. As well as their museum where you find  wine accessories daed to III - I millennium BC which Georgian people used centuries ago. And of course visit the cellar to learn about their company,  wine and wine production.
